A western Wisconsin 14-year-old suspected of armed robbery was arrested by Centennial Lakes Police Tuesday morning after crashing his car on State Highway 97, near the intersection with Everton Avenue.
According to law enforcement, the chase was started by Centennial Lakes police near Interstate Highway 35. Police allegedly chased the teen north on the highway and onto Highway 97, where he headed west until crashing his car around 6:25 a.m. His vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop. He was arrested at the scene and taken to the Anoka County Jail. Forest Lake police also responded, but Centennial Lakes police had already secured the teen by the time local officers arrived.
The teen’s name was released Aug. 3 as authorities searched for him, but ECM Publications’ policy is generally to not release the names of minors involved in crimes.
The teen is wanted in multiple Wisconsin counties, where he is suspected of engaging in a crime spree on Aug. 3. He allegedly attempted an armed robbery of a Woodville, Wis., home before eluding authorities and later engaging in a high-speed chase in New Richmond, Wis., according to Wisconsin sheriff’s departments.
Assault
Forest Lake police also reported an assault that occurred Aug. 3 around 2:40 p.m. at the beach in Lakeside Memorial Park. According to police, a man and a woman were spending time at the beach when the woman’s boyfriend arrived and started punching the other man in the face. The boyfriend fled the scene, and the man who was assaulted was transported to Fairview Lakes Medical Center with facial injuries; he is expected to recover. The boyfriend has not been taken into custody.
